My Glogster Project (wild animals)

I had already used The Glogster during lesson and put my work into my blog . I  made some adjustments at home about the topic 'Wild Animals'. In addition to The Glogster, I used The Publisher under the same topic ' Wild Animals'. I just wanted to know how to work with the Publisher, and its practicality for my future students.

In this project I used these links

I also used a book written for children named
'Animals of the Forest' , English Text  (C) 2004  Tormont Publications Inc.

My Brochure Project (wild animals)

This is the outside of the brochure that is to be folded. This part is inside of the brochure that is to be folded from the lines.

In this project, I wanted to use the Publisher (a pocket program for preparing professional brochures). I liked it. This pages are being folded and forming a booklet.

My Digital Storytelling Project

Hello!  Here is our digital story.
The character Suna is modified from a picture in http://storybird.com/the-dreamy-giraffe/
The sound effects are from  http://soundbible.com/
If you want to watch it via your IPhone click  here

In this project I and my friend Ayşegül Emül were together. We used Paint (a microsoft pocket program that had been loaded in the computer) to draw the scenes, the animals and for modifiying the girl Suna .It was easier to draw in a computer rather than on a paper. Because we could easily redraw , delete , recall, copy, paste our drawings by the Paint. It provided us a fertile ground for creating the digital story. Then we organized our drawings in the Windows Live Movie Maker . I think, using both the Paint and the Movie Maker will trigger students' imagination and creativity for making their own product.

My Interview Project

Hello! this week i listened to an interview with a celebrity from here .

Morgan Freeman was interviewed by Francine Stock in the BBC interview. In the interview, Francine Stock and Morgan Freeman discussed  Mr. Freeman’s movie Invictus.

The interviewer first introduced the interviewee and then the movie. She talked about Morgan
Freeman’s oscar for best supporting actor in a different movie, which is named the Million Dollar Baby. She then gave a small summary of the movie Invictus. In this movie Morgan Freeman plays Nelson Mandela who was the president of South Africa. Mr. Mandela tried to unite South Africa by using rugby in the Rugby World Cup.

Francine Stock’s asked initially about how the movie came about and how Morgan Freeman knew that Nelson Mandela would like Mr. Freeman to play as him in a movie. Then the interviewer asked if Morgan Freeman asked Nelson Mandela if he could observe him and learn to be like him for the movie.
The interviewer frequently commented on Morgan Freeman’s answers while he was talking. For example, she talked about Nelson Mandela’s way of holding his arms or the way he walked. The interviewer also jokingly reacted that Mr Mandela slept during the showing of the movie.

Francine Stock’s final questions to Mr. Freeman was what Nelson Mandela thought of the movie, and if Mr. Freeman found it unchallanging to play characters who are alive or real.

The interviewer concluded the interview by commenting that the movie’s ending was happy, although in the real history this was not true.

Through the interview Mr. Freeman was very professional. He was engaged and happy to talk about the movie, Mr. Mandela and about his experience as an actor.

Mr. Freeman answered to Francine Stock’s questions. He explained that the movie came about after he had a conversation with a journalist, who wrote a book about South Africa. Also, Mr. Freeman read in a newspaper that Nelson Mandela would like Mr. Freeman to play as him in a movie. And finally, Morgan Freeman had chances to talk to Mr. Mandela in person before the movie project, so he had a chance to observe him.

From the movie Invictus

Morgan Freeman also gave additional information to the questions. He explained that Nelson Mandela is a very quite person, and is motionless. Even during conversations, Mr. Mandela doesn’t nod or interrupt. Also, his left arm is almost motionless although there is no physical problem with it. Morgan Freeman also explained that Mr. Mandela is unhappy with his personal life and his family life.
Morgan Freeman explained that he can feel the energy of a person by holding his hand. He had this opportunity with Nelson Mandela. Mr. Freeman also explained that he wouldn’t play a character if he didn’t look like him. For example, he wouldn’t play Martin Luther King.

Mr. Freeman concluded the interview with Francine Stock by explaining that a movie was about one moment in time. It didn’t have a happy ending but is a proud ending.

If I were the interviewer, I would also ask Mr. Freeman if he talked to Nelson Mandela about his time in the prison and his struggles to gain equality for his black South African citizens. I would also like to ask Mr. Mandela if he felt that he could have done more for his family while he was working for his country.

My podcast assignment and my reflection

Audio recording >> On this project, I, Hatice Gökhan, worked with Ayşegül Emül. First of all I was very anxious about how I could accomplish the project. But as I focused on it and became familiar with the equipments (mobile phone, sound recording issues, exploring podomatic) I gained my confidence and felt an enthusiasm for the project. In this time I just wanted to enchance the project as much as I could. Secondly it was very surprising for me to hear my voice for the first time via a mobile phone. I could hardly believe that it was my voice. Finally I definitely think of using podcasting for my future students because these kinds of projects will enchance the quality of learning activity and increase motivation. Student will concentrate on using language, not its grammatical structure. I mean they will learn L2 unconciously and will try to produce the utterances freely then in a proper form/order at last accurately. This process (recording their voices and working collaboratively) will be very useful for their learning of a foreign language and their interaction. I think I will have a peaceful classroom athmosphere and with students demonstrating on-task behaviours I won't need to spend huge amount of effort to manage the classroom.
